Welcome to my new blog!

Hi parents! I decided to start this blog so that you could see just exactly what it is we do around here during the day. I'll also be using this blog to keep you updated on schedules, planned field trips, and vacation times. I'll e-mail parents reminders when something important is coming up, so that you have all the pertinent info handy when you need it.

I also thought it would be fun to use the blog as a tool to share ideas for things you can do with your kids at home such as art projects, recipes, and fun places to take the kids around Albuquerque.

For those of you out there who are unfamiliar with Curious Caterpillar Childcare, here's a little bit about me and my home daycare. My name is Laurie, I am 31 years old, and I have been operating Curious Caterpillar Childcare, LLC for three years. I currently care for three children, a ten month old girl who is here 5 days per week until 1pm, a three-year-old boy who comes Mondays and Thursdays, and another three-year-old who does occasional drop-ins.

I hold both Associates and Bachelor’s degrees, am CPR and First Aid certified, and have a squeaky-clean driving record. I provide meals and snacks and lots of great activities including trips to the zoo, aquarium, parks, museums, botanical garden, and the library. I have been doing day-care in my home for three years, have two years of experience as a nanny, and spent two wonderful years as a Montessori pre-school assistant teacher in Arizona. I teach the kids in my care colors, numbers, letters and the sounds they make, and work on potty training for boys or girls. Daily activities include singing, dancing, playing outside, cooking together, doing arts and crafts, going on fun and educational field trips, walking to the park, and playing school. I have two cats and one Boston Terrier who are all current on vaccinations and love being tortured by toddlers!

I am also a licensed foster parent, however I do not plan on fostering any more children for another year or two. We’re taking a break! During foster care licensing, I completed home inspections, personal interviews with CYFD caseworkers, background checks, finger printing, and parenting classes. I have also registered my home business with the City of Albuquerque, and provide parents with my tax ID number come tax time (gotta love deductions!).

I am located just off Carlisle and Comanche in Albuquerque – about a mile from I-25. I am VERY flexible, and can make arrangements to fit anyone's schedule with reasonable notice. I do not charge for sick days or pre-arranged vacations. My hours are from 7:45am – 5:30pm Monday through Friday. The following is a list of my rates, which includes all meals & snacks as well as the cost of field trips:

Half-day program #1- 3 hours per day, 5 days per week.....$80.00 per week
Half-day program #2- 5 hours per day, 3 days per week.....$80.00 per week
Full-day program, 5 days per week..............................$130.00 per week
Full day program, parent’s choice full days......................$30.00 per day
Part-Time (4 hours or less), parent’s choice on days...........$20.00 per day
